Discovery helps you find new keyword, topic, and content opportunities. Use it when you want to understand what your audience is searching for, what your website may be missing, and where competitors may be stronger.

What Discovery is for

Discovery helps you find opportunities before creating content. It can help you answer:
  • What topics should we target?
  • What keywords are worth exploring?
  • What content gaps do we have?
  • Where are competitors stronger?
  • Which pages or topics should we improve?
  • What should we add to Strategy or Content Hub?
Discovery is useful when you want to create content with more direction.

Main discovery areas

Discovery includes two main types of workflows.

Keyword / Topical Research

Keyword / Topical Research helps you search for keyword ideas and topic clusters. Use it when you want to find new search opportunities, related keywords, and groups of topics that may be worth targeting. This is useful for building your strategy keyword list and planning future content.

Content Discovery

Content Discovery helps you find content gaps and opportunities from scans. It includes:
  • Auto Scan
  • Competitor Scan
  • Page Targeting
Use Content Discovery when you want Serpy to review your website, competitors, or specific pages for opportunities.

Auto Scan

Auto Scan reviews your website and strategy keywords to find content opportunities. Use it when you want a broad scan of where your website may have gaps, weak positions, partial coverage, or covered topics.

Competitor Scan

Competitor Scan compares your website against competitors. Use it when you want to find topics competitors cover that your website may be missing or underperforming on.

Page Targeting

Page Targeting helps you analyze a specific page or competitor page. Use it when you want to find keyword or content opportunities connected to one URL.

How Discovery connects to Strategy

Discovery helps you find new ideas. Strategy helps you organize the ideas you want to focus on. When you find useful keywords or topics in Discovery, you can save them to Strategy or use them to create content.

How Discovery connects to Content Hub

Discovery results can lead directly into content creation. If you find a useful keyword, cluster, gap, or opportunity, you can use it to generate an outline and create an article in Content Hub. A simple Discovery workflow is:
  1. Run Keyword / Topical Research to find new ideas.
  2. Save useful keywords to Strategy.
  3. Run Content Discovery scans to find gaps.
  4. Review Auto Scan, Competitor Scan, or Page Targeting results.
  5. Choose the best opportunities.
  6. Generate an outline.
  7. Create and optimize the content.

Tips

Use Discovery before creating content if you are unsure what to write. Save only useful keywords to Strategy. Use Auto Scan for a broad view. Use Competitor Scan when you want to compare against competitors. Use Page Targeting when you want to analyze one specific page. Turn strong opportunities into outlines instead of leaving them unused.
